Education

Gig has a private high school and private college education but claims he was not a great student. When discussing his education he describes himself as “just a jock”. He also says that he only has a Bachelors degree while his brother and sister both have Master’s. Gig applied to Harvard University, his sister was attending and Harvard recruited Gig to play sports, but he was not accepted.

In his Freshman year Gig attended Bucknell Collegenow known as Bucknell University, which is one of the best academic institutions in the country with one of the lowest college admissions acceptance rates. He then transferred to American University in Washington, D.C. which was one of the best school’s in the country in the sport he participated in. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing.

Attending American University was great exposure to the world with many students in attendance from different countries. Gig had a roommate who was there to learn English from Venezuela, and another year he had one with the same goal from Columbia. Gig thinks he recalls a student telling him that one of the floors in his first dormitory spoke 13 different languages. Gig believes that particular dormitory, which he lived in during the first semester after he transferred, was known as the International dorm. In total, Gig thinks he lived in 4 dormitories at American University before moving off campus.

He was there in 1983 which was known as the year of the quarterbacks with John Elway #1, Todd Blackledge #7, Jim Kelly #14, Tony Eason #15, Ken O’Brien #24 and Dan Marino #27 out of 28 first round picks. 1983 was ranked #1 as the top quarterback draft class of the Super Bowl era http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/a-look-at-the-top-25-qb-draft-classes-of-the-super-bowl-era/ss-AA9YNrm#image=26

1983 was also labeled the most celebrated quarterback class in NFL history with notables, future Pro Football Hall of Fame members John Elway, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly, and quarterbacks Ken O’Brien, Tony Eason and Gary Kubiak

An indication as to how long ago it was, 1983 was the first year the NFL-PA implemented computers. As an intern Gig was privy to every players contract, entering each one into the computer database.
